Overview

Trans LogoTransport Scotland is the national transport agency, seeking to deliver a safe, efficient, cost-effective and sustainable transport system for the benefit of the people of Scotland. Transport Scotland is accountable to Parliament and the public through Scottish Ministers, with a budget of around £3.9 billion per year. Transport is a vital feature of the Scottish Government's focus on increasing sustainable economic growth, and transport investments and policies have major impacts on the economy, people, and the environment.

 

Salary from 1 April 2024 will be £32140 to £34861

Responsibilities

• To analyse schemes and grant claims for accuracy, utilising and interrogating available systems to validate and authorise claims for payment in accordance with Scheme rules and Grant conditions and to prepare reports where applicable.
• To investigate shortfalls or discrepancies of data and liaise with stakeholders with a view to resolving issues and ensuring correct payments are made.
• Engage with transport operators and other stakeholders to investigate and resolve issues where discrepancies or issues are identified in relation to payment claims.
• Line management responsibility for an Operator Account Support (A4).  This also involves target setting, monitoring, providing support and direction, liaising with other team members to ensure consistency in approach.
• Undertake and participate in any fraud investigation working with other colleagues across the Unit as required. This may also include a requirement to undertake and participate in investigations and surveillance.

Essential Criteria 
1. Excellent attention to detail, with a strong focus on the ability to interrogate and analyse high volume complex, financial data, drawing conclusions and recommendations
2. Strong oral and written communication skills with internal and external stakeholders and the ability to communicate complex financial data in an easily understandable format.
3. Ability to apply concise and methodical approach to problem solving with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail, and understanding when to escalate issues appropriately.
4. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage your own and your teams work to meet challenging deadlines whilst delivering to a consistently high standard.

Minimum Time in Post
You will be expected to remain in post for a minimum of three years unless successful at gaining promotion to a higher Band or Grade. 


In the event that further posts are required, a reserve list of successful candidates will be kept for up to 12 months. 

Location
This post is based in  Glasgow, with hybrid working in line with current Transport Scotland policies. You will be expected to be office based twice per week, pro rata.

The post is a full time role, but staff with different working patterns are invited to apply, and we will assess proposed working patterns against the business requirements for this post.
