Our team are trusted partners throughout Scottish Government, its executive agencies and public bodies. Our recommendations, reviews and advice drive forward improvements and underpin decisions that lead to major public sector reform.

 

We’re expanding our capacity and seeking qualified (CIA or CCAB), experienced auditors to join us as Internal Audit Managers, supporting our clients deliver for the people of Scotland. We’re looking for someone who is a sound negotiator, great communicator and strategic thinker. You’ll be able to identify risk and control weaknesses, deliver quality reviews and build great working relationships with our clients, stakeholders and wider team.

 

We’ve got a large team with a unique and wide ranging skillset. We’re collaborative and have an integrated approach to assurance, working closely with assurance colleagues to give the right level of activity, at the right time to our clients.

 

We support our team every step of the way to enhance their skills and knowledge. We offer professional development through supported CPE, funding for additional professional training and options to advance your qualification status to, for example, Chartered Status.

 

Responsibilities

• You’ll support our client’s development and improvement by developing and managing a programme of audit reviews.
• With this support and the relationships you build, you’ll be fundamental to the delivery of programmes, projects and services that people of Scotland receive.
• Effectively engaging with stakeholders to assist in the development of a risk based audit plan which provides assurance over risk management, control and governance arrangements
• As an Internal Audit Manager you’ll be an active member of our Extended Management Team and contribute to the strategic vision of Internal Audit and Assurance.
• You’ll support the planning and delivery of the annual quality improvement programme and may have line management responsibility for a small number of more junior staff.
• Delivering audit and assurance assignments, individually or leading a team of auditors, in line with quality, time and budget requirements and ensuring that professional standards are maintained
• Managing staff within teams to ensure they have clear guidance and effective feedback and contributing to the strategic vision and practice development within Internal Audit, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Essential Criteria & Qualifications

Qualified (CIA or CCAB) is required, we're looking for experienced auditors to join us as Internal Audit Managers, supporting our clients to deliver for the people of Scotland.

 

Please note that the internal audit pay supplement varies depending on qualification held:

 

PIIA/CIA - £1250

CMIIA/CCAB - £1500

 

Essential Criteria


1. Experience of undertaking risk based audit reviews which demonstrate your ability to identify and recommend effective governance, risk management and internal control arrangements.
2. Ability to manage competing priorities, your workload and the workload of others flexibly, supporting staff to achieve delivery of the Internal Audit Plan.
3. Sound judgement and an ability to analyse complex information, respond positively to change and offer ideas and suggestions for continuous improvement across the audit function and business areas.
4. Strong communication and inter-personal skills, personal credibility and have the ability to make an impact and influence a diverse range of stakeholders across the organisation.

 

Location

 

These vacancies operate under hybrid working with ad hoc attendance in the office for meetings at our base offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow. There will be some requirement travel to external stakeholder sites.

Minimum time in post


You will be expected to remain in post for a minimum of three years unless successful at gaining promotion to a higher Band or Grade.

 

In the event that further posts are required, a reserve list of successful candidates will be kept for up to 12 months.
